Cancer Mom

I was inspired to make an art piece called “Child Cancer Survivor – the fine print” when I saw a call for art from the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia Lymphoma Society was looking for art work from patients and family members of patient dealing with Leukemia and other blood cancers for their yearly awareness campaign in Washington DC. I learned of this call shortly after my daughter’s death due to complication after treatment for leukemia. I had always been an artist, but life… family, work, home and then a sick child left little room for my art. After years of helping my daughter fight her disease, living in a world of doctors and medicine and other children and families fighting cancer, and then the death of my child, this call for art became something I could hold on to. I began with “Child Cancer Survivor” and more pieces stemmed from that. This exhibit is a compilation of paintings expressing feelings, emotions and perspectives of a mom who had a child who had cancer.
